About Us

Personal biographies
The work of eight photographers; George Herringshaw, Ed Lacey, Nigel French, Stuart Franklin, Tony Edenden, Dave Pinegar, Michael Regan & Mark Mecklenburgh feature on the vast majority of the Sporting-Heroes pages. Each has a small CV of their career and achievements.
Photographic philosophy
You may have realised that almost all of the photographs are 'action shots'. The reason is simple, George, Ed, Nigel, Stuart, Tony and the other photographers featured have been tutored to show the sports person doing what the sports person does. Footballers kick footballs, Rugby players carry the ball, cricketers hit the ball (or bowl it) runners have legs, golfers and tennis players use an implement. They do not stand still smiling into the lens of a camera whilst earning their living. Only unthinking publications use posed portraits to illustrate sport. We do so only as a last resort. We believe the only really acceptable portrait is one taken on the field of play when the individual is unaware. Finally we always try to freeze the action with the individual sports star's face in focus.
